About Us

We’ve finally opened the doors! After months of planning, late-night chats and a fair bit of “coffee”, Towan Vets has become a reality.

The practice was founded by Joe Ivey and Sam Wheeler, both well-known and highly regarded vets within Cornwall’s equine community. They are joined by Emma Ivey, also a vet, who oversees the smooth running of the practice.

Together we established Towan Vets as an independent practice that reflects our values and offers the kind of care we’d want for our own animals.

Being part of the local community is central to who we are. Joe and Sam both grew up in West Cornwall, so being able to care for local horses and support the people who own them feels especially meaningful. As a small, close-knit team, we value continuity and believe it makes a real difference for clients to know who they’re speaking to on the phone and who will arrive when they need a vet. Those familiar, trusted connections are at the heart of the service we want to provide.

With many years of experience and a shared passion for veterinary care, we’re excited to welcome you and your horses to Towan Vets and look forward to the journey ahead!
